Content and objectives

Global partnerships between companies and other actors are important and necessary. Corporate (social) responsibility is the main framework for companies to respond to the global challenges and uneven development. The course will follow the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). After the course students will be familiar with sustainable development, globalisation, corporate (social) responsibility and MDGs and they will understand the contents of them and the kind of possibilities and challenges they set for companies.

These themes will be further discussed in TM23 and TMS2.

Contact hours The virtual course “Globalisation and Corporate Responsibility” is held in English and consists of virtual lectures, discussions in forum, literature assignments and written final report. Individual works can also be done in Finnish.

Notes The course is part of the Finnish Universities’ Partnership for International Development (UniPid) co-operation. Attendance is restricted to 70 students. In case of excess demand, the priority is given to students majoring in economic geography.
